Eating habits

Last night my husband and I went out for dinner with a couple of (faux middleclass) friends of ours. We went to a new, very posh, curry restaurant which has recently opened in our local town. Things were going well and we were all having a lovely time. That is, until the curry arrived. I could not believe my eyes when I saw a member of our party start tucking into her chicken korma (which is pikey enough in itself) using a knife and fork! I was so embarrassed.

Mind you, this is the same lady who laughs at people who cut their children's sandwiches into squares - in her naivity she reckons sandwiches must be cut into triangles, because that's the 'posh' way to do it. Triangular sandwiches are a sign of a clueless try-hard. The same lady even made a complaint when we went out for lunch the other day, because the cheese in her sandwich was sliced instead of grated. Again, clueless.

My dear husband used to cut out small chunks from his pizza and then eat it AND he used to eat spagetti bolognese with a knife and fork - he would cut the spagetti up as if feeding a child.
